Using image props in Vectorworks

The image prop facility in Vectorworks allows the user to model a single or cross-haired 2D graphic to appear on a 3D plane. This is a great tool for adding site-specific images that you would like to use in your designs or for adding a higher level of object detail to your viewports without tackling complex subdivision or NURBS curves! Using image props in comparison to modelling the 3D representation yourself will also save you hours of design time and also allow for a more manageable file size.

To avoid the image prop looking peculiar when viewed at multiple angles, Vectorworks enables the user to select the “Auto Rotate to Viewer” function, thus allowing the location of the viewer to dictate the orientation of the prop.  This is very useful when used in a garden landscape for example, as it will provide the illusion of a full and healthy garden while taking a comparatively short amount of time to implement. We would, however, like it to be noted that using the auto rotate function in a Llama farm setting will result in a somewhat menacing encounter.
