BIM FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS
Building Industry Meaning
The final work day of 2012 saw us focusing on a practical BIM project in the office and I’m pleased to say that the construction of the chocolate crispy house was a complete success. All members of the team collaborated well on the project, particularly on the demolition phase, which followed almost immediately on the heels of final construction and client handover!
Now, 2012 is well and truly behind us and 2013 is already busy. Many people have decided to make the most of the early part of the year to refresh and enhance their Vectorworks skills — we trained 20 people last week alone on a mixture of small group, 1:1 and company bespoke courses. This time of year is always the busiest for training, so if you are thinking about training, take a look at our current schedule, call us or email me to talk through your requirements.
However, as we move into 2013, BIM is still centre stage and not just with practising architects. My diary over the next few weeks sees a number of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions with architect practices on “BIM — Your Next Step”. In addition, I am visiting two universities where students are also eager to understand the nature of the design world awaiting them when they graduate.
Last week also saw a Landscape Institute CPD day in London, where we found ourselves meeting over 200 appreciative Landscape Architects and talking about the best of breed capabilities offered by Vectorworks Landmark. The evening session brought BIM into focus once more and gave some meaning to BIM in the context of Landscape Design. Yet again, the key message that we talk about was endorsed by the Landscape Institute, that moving to BIM is about people and processes, supported by technology. With Open BIM, Landscape Architects can choose best of breed design capability, secure in the knowledge that collaboration and communication are not compromised.
Many of the people we met have decided to take advantage of the free online demonstration offer - if you would like to find out more email email@example.com
